We are now recruiting for a Head of Technical Operations UK to lead the technical operation for provision of technical expertise on our client’s products, and project stakeholders in the installation and commission of their products.

About the role

As Head of Technical Operations UK, you will lead a team of electrical engineers and technical specialists to provide first class technical and sales support to the UK Sales team. You will build, develop and lead a high-performance technical team that delivers on our client’s strategy and revenue targets.

Responsible for the daily leadership and management of all tech op’s activities, you will design and outline policies and processes that ensure technical operations are made, executed, communicated and implemented in the most efficient way whilst delivering the highest levels of customer service.

  • Lead, manage, mentor and provide the technical expertise fora highly motivated tech ops team
  • Develop goals, strategies, and initiatives across the team in alignment with the UK Sales strategy
  • Role model an exemplary approach to customer service for our client
  • Formulate the development of policies, procedures and standards to direct and control the technical field operations effectively
  • To develop, coordinate, implement and execute technical operations activities, programs, plans and alliances effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, quality requirements and ISO, HSE regulations.
  • Ensure all tech ops processes and activities are communicated and coordinated internally and cross-functions and are effective expenditure of resources.
  • Providing leadership, encouraging teamwork and facilitating the tech ops process in order to achieve high performance standards and staff pride
  • Ensure the team can successfully deliver projects and service in a timely manner
  • Define service goals, objectives and metrics to ensure alignment around efficient delivery
  • Develop maintenance and service programs, for operation and maintenance of our client’s installations
  • Prepare the annual business plans and operating budgets, ensuring that adequate funding provision is made for all activities against costs
  • Attract, grow and retain a high performing team

  • Support and monitor the performance of the engineering managers including frequent formal and informal meetings, setting SMART objectives and deliverables during tertial Performance Dialogues and in 1:1s
  • Support the Head of Sales UK and Global Head of Sales in highlighting technical issues and they are fully briefed with regard to budgets and customer revenue
  • Travel to site when necessary, representing our client at a senior level


We are looking for a degree educated engineer, you will also be interested in the other elements of the customer and sales process with room for your own professional development across the business. You may be working in HVAC or as a commissioning engineer with line management experience looking to expand your skills in your next career move. The ideal candidate is someone who can take the traditional tasks of an operations team and turn that into safe and robust automation.

  • BSc degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics or similar) or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in team Leadership, proven finance knowledge, and technical experience
  • Previous demonstrable management experience in a technical and/or operations environment
  • Ability to work in a team and interface with other departments to deliver maximum value for costumers and the business.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and value, internally and externally
  • Proven track record of managing high customer expectations and delivering results under time pressure working to tight deadlines
  • Advanced IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint an Excel
  • Knowledge of lighting controls, Automation, networks and/or AV equipment would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of current HSE regulations relevant to tech ops and of industry ISO requirements
  • Confident and effective communicator, ability to effectively present and influence individuals and groups at all levels
  • Flexible and agile, ability to adapt your approach and methods to maximise results
  • Based in London or the South East for travel and access to our markets, with occasional international travel when required
  • Full & current UK drivers licence
  • You will be required to support the UK team whether on-site or from our office
  • Spoken and written fluency in English; an additional European language is desirable but is not essential
