Qualified Group Financial Accountant

£45,000 – £50,000 per annum

A family run builders’ merchants, based in Bradford are seeking a Qualified Group Financial Accountant to join their busy team. The business has been going for over 150 years, run by 4 generations of the same family. They deal directly with the public over their busy sales counters, provide credit accounts for small, local businesses and hold contracts, supplying daily, with the MOD and some of the largest hotel chains in the UK. Their aim is to supply the best available materials at competitive prices to developers, contractors, tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts.

Are you an analytical technical accountant who enjoys identifying and implementing improvements in accounting systems and processes?

Are you someone who prefers a technical role where the main focus is on monthly reporting, stat accounting and financial account analysis?

You will be managing a team of 3 – previous management experience is not essential but our client is looking for a strong communicator, an individual with the ability to lead from the front, offering support to team members and departmental managers. You will liaise regularly with department managers over invoices and credit control. You will work closely with the General Manager and the Managing Director, offering support and advice where necessary. Our client has a site in Keighley and from time to time you will be required to work from there. You must be a Qualified Accountant, preferably with industry experience but not a necessity. Experience of using Pegasus Opera 3 is essential.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for the maintenance of financial systems to ensure completeness of statutory and group reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles/standards, relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
Reporting monthly, to the MD, on trial balances, P&L and any other required financial reports.
Drive compliance within a robust control framework and take responsibility for internal/external audit deliverables.
Provide supervision and development for a team of 3.

Key requirements:

ICAEW qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Pegasus, Opera 3 knowledge essential.
Previous experience of managing a team is advantageous.
A proactive, detailed and analytical approach with a commercial outlook.
